Lebanese prime minister arrives in Riyadh

The Lebanese prime minister Najib Liqati arrived in al-Riyadh on Sunday to hold talks with senior Saudi officials in the course of the visit which was the first by him since he had assumed his post.

A Lebanese source in Riyadh said that Miqati talks will cover latest developments concerning the situation in Lebanon.

Assigning Miqati to assume the presidency of the Lebanese government came following a meeting held between the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz with the French President Jacque Chirac in the course of responding to conditions set by the Lebanese opposition on the authority in the course of protests followed the assassination of Rafiq al-Hariri.

The Lebanese Maronite parliamentarian Nasib Lahoud who has been in Saudi Arabia since Saturday for his part discussed with the Saudi crown prince Abdullah the developments of conditions in Lebanon.
