Maroc-Telecom lowers leased international lines for call centers
Morocco, Economics, 5/14/2005
Morocco's phone company "Maroc Telecom" announced on Friday a 13% cut in its tariffs for international phone lines leased to call centers, starting on June 1st.
Following this cut, seen as another incentive offered to attract call centers, the centers will benefit from a 35% decrease compared to the practiced standard tariffs, the phone operator said in a release.
This is a decisive step to increase the competitiveness of Morocco as a good investment location for call centers.
Over 100 call centers are settled in Morocco, posting a turnover of some MAD 800m (Euro 73m), and securing about ten thousand jobs.
Morocco expects to attract 50% of French off shoring in this field.
