Attacks in all parts of Iraq

Attacks and explosions continued on Friday in various parts of Iraq inflecting more killing and injuring. This was in the course of the escalations taking place in the country since the announcement of the new Iraqi government and so far resulted in killing more than 420 persons and hundreds of injured during two weeks of time.

One explosion took place on Friday morning in Baghdad targeting one American convoy and resulted in damaging one military armored vehicle. No information on the volume of casualties among the Americans was disclosed.

To the west of the capital Baghdad, the Iraqi ministry of the interior secretary, Lt. Gen. Hikmat Mousa Hussein, survived an assassination attempt when snipers on Friday morning opened fire at his procession and this resulted in killing one of his guards and wounding other three.

In Baqouba to the north east of Baghdad, three Iraqis were killed including two soldiers and other 6 injured in a booby trapped car explosion. Police sources said that one booby trapped car driven by a suicider went off when one truck carrying 40 members of the Iraqi national guards was running.

Mortars shelling fell at an inspection point for the Iraqi national guards in al-Hella in the north of Baghdad leaving three killing and three injured. Iraqi security sources announced the killing of 8 Iraqis including two soldiers and four gunmen in attacks near al-Sherqat and Beiji to the north of Baghdad.
