US bombarded in al-Qaem city
Iraq-USA, Military, 5/14/2005

The American war planes on Friday bombarded positions suspected to be for gunmen in al-Qaem city and the surrounding areas to the west of Iraq. A statement by the American army on Friday said that the military operations in the area adjoining the Syrian borders is continuous for the 6th running day.

The statement said that helicopters of Cobra type and FA-18 jets support the marine forces in their attacks, noting that these planes bombarded a building where gunmen were hiding in one of the nearby villages and destroyed it.

To this effect, the chairman of the American joint army commission Richard Meyers admitted Washington's involvement in challenging of what he called the rebels in Iraq. In a meeting at the Pentagon base on Thursday Meyers said that defeating this rebellion might take three to nine years and it needs patience to implement it.
