Morocco is the country of outstanding athletes and champions and a crossroad of cultures, said, here Thursday, UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace, Adolf Ogi.

Speaking at a press briefing on the margin of the 68th congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), the UN official, who is also in charge of the International Year of sport and Physical Education (AISEP), hailed the kingdom's efforts to promote sports as a vector of development and the creation of a special committee in charge of AISEP.

He also noted the importance of sports to create a new generation of young people who embrace peace and tolerance values insisting on its role in the development of economic, social and humanitarian life aspects.

Besides the 68th congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), Ogi took part in several sports activities part of AISEP national program.
