Thousands of Christians demonstrate against the Lebanese elections law

Thousands of Lebanese from various parts of Lebanon demonstrated in Bkerky in the north east of Lebanon in support of the stances of the Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir in his strong rejection of the election law of 2000 which is considered as not fair for Christians.
Patriarch Sfeir stressed to the participants in the demonstration that his demand does not mean partition nor provoking sectarianism between Christians and Muslims, stressing unity among the Lebanese sects and that Lebanon is not just for one group.
The Maronite patriarchs considered that adopting this law once again constitutes a flagrant violation of the spirit of the Taif accord which confirms that there is no legitimacy for any authority that contradicts coexistence.
