Director at the Iraqi ministry of defense killed

Various parts of attacks have witnessed bloody attacks that resulted in killing 24 and other 120 wounded following the blowing up of four booby trapped cars in Baghdad and Karkouk in different armed attacks.

The most violent attack took place in a crowded quarters in new Baghdad area to the east of the capital when one booby trapped car went off and this resulted in killing 15 persons and injuring other 76.

Following the attack, angry Iraqis demanded the interim Iraqi government to execute those who proved to be involved in such attacks.

In another attack to the west of Baghdad, five Iraqi civilians were injured in a booby trapped car on a main road side as one American military procession was running. Two booby trapped cars went off in Karkouk to the north of Baghdad. One of them targeted an inspection point for the Iraqi police and resulted in killing two civilians and one policeman and wounding five civilians, while other three were injured when the second booby trapped car went off.

In another development, gunmen killed operations director at the Iraqi ministry of defense Eyad Imad Mahdi while he was leaving his house in al-Jihad quarters to the west of Baghdad for his office. This was in an attack claimed by al-Jihad Organization in Mesopotamia. Also gunmen killed a colonel on the Iraqi police Jamal Ahmad Hussein in front of his house in al-Ameen quarters in the south east of Baghdad.

Escorted by the Iraqi forces, the American forces detained seven Iraqi women upon breaking into the house of Sheikh Ali Muhammad al-Zaam in Sabe al-Bour area to the north of Baghdad. The Muslim Scholars Commission deplored in a statement the detention of the women and called on the American forces and the Iraqi government to release all members of the family and all the detainees and held the American and Iraqi forces the responsibility of their security and safety.
