Tripoli (Libya) declaration was issued on Wednesday over Darfur (Sudan), according to which sides of the conflict abided by the cease fire and to collaborate with the people's administration and armed movements to facilitate the access of relief aids to the devastated people in the area.
The agreement which was attended by the Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi and the Sudanese minister of state for foreign affairs came while the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir stressed that the mini African summit over Darfur will be held next Monday in Tripoli.
In an exclusive interview with al-Jazeera, Bashir said it was agreed to transfer the summit from Sharm al-Sheikh in Egypt to Tripoli in light of the understanding between the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and al-Qathafi. He stressed that there will be no problem in convening the meeting in any of the two states. He explained that the mini summit will discuss the recommendations of Abuja African summit over ending the crisis in Darfur.
Bashir renewed his rejection handing over of any Sudanese citizen for trial outside the country over accusations of committing what is called war crimes in Darfur according to a UN Security Council resolution. He admitted that every thing is possible in this matter noting that the decision of handing over is decided by the Sudanese President.
Tripoli summit is due to discuss the results of the UN Security Council resolution over the trial of the persons convicted of committing crimes in Darfur and means of reaching a settlement for the political and humanitarian crisis in the area. Tripoli summit will also discuss the proposals to increase the volume of the African Union forces to the west of Sudan and to make use of the southern Sudan peace experience to end the crisis in Darfur.
