Syria gives priority to gas sector, minister

Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Ibrahim Haddad said "Syria has given the sector of gas a special interest," pointing out to the two firms established recently to produce and market gas.
In the opening of the 3-day first International Gas Conference held by the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources, United Firm for Exhibitions and al-Baath University on Tuesday, the minister highlighted the significant role of gas in the national economy, asserting that his ministry is interested in the Arab gas line agreement according to which Egyptian gas passes through Jordan, Syria and to Turkey and then to European countries.
