Gunman detained in recent clashes in Riyadh

In a statement, the Saudi ministry of the interior said that the security forces detained one gunman after he was injured in a fire exchange in one of the quarters in the east of Riyadh on Monday.

The ministry explained in a statement that the security follow up for the suspected men resulted in finding one of their cars on Monday evening in al-Rawabi quarters in the east of Riyadh city.

The statement said that when the driver of the car was asked to show his driving license, and he started to open fire at the police men and tried to seize the car of one of the passerby by force.

The statement added that fire was exchanged with him and this resulted in wounding him and seizing him as a result. The Saudi ministry of the interior said it found inside the car of the suspected man bombs and weapons including two Klashinkov, cars documents and plates, 20,000 Saudi Riyals and USD 5333.

The Saudi ministry of the interior announced on Monday that two Saudi policemen were injured in the confrontations.

Recently Saudi Arabia witnessed several confrontations between the security men and what it described by the authorities as the "mislead group" who support al-Qaida network led by Osama Bin Laden.
