Investment Minister: Land free for investors
Egypt, Economics, 5/9/2005
Egypt is ready to study a proposal to grant land for free to investors in some provinces nationwide, Minister of Investment Mahmoud Mohieddin said on Sunday.
Since taking office last July, the government of Ahmed Nazif has created a more friendly investment climate and generated more job opportunities, he said.
"In this regard, the Ministry of Investment is willing to receive the provinces' requests to join the project in order to examine them first," Mohieddin told a Cairo workshop designed to discuss the climate for investments in Egypt.
The land, he said, would be allocated to investors once the project is proven economically worthy.
"Giving lands for free is not an objective in itself but the main goal here is to take best advantage of such project once implemented," he said.
