Muslim Bothers continue demonstrations in Cairo, reject constitution's amendment

The banned Muslim Brothers group in Egypt has stressed its determination to continue acts of protests despite the detention of hundreds of its members and supporters by the Egyptian security forces last week.
In front of the headquarters of the journalists union in Cairo, some 200 persons, members of the movement and supporters demonstrated demanding the release of the detainees and chanting slogans against the government amid tightened security conditions.
Members of the Egyptian movement for the change "Kefaya" (enough) took part in the acts of protests demanding also the release of detainees. The general coordinator of the movement George Ishaq said "we will protest and demonstrate against any violations to any political force in Egypt and not only the Muslim Brothers."
Meantime, the Arab human rights committee in Egypt criticized the detention of a large number of the group by the security authorities. In a statement, the committee said that some 2000 members of the group were detained and described that as a grave escalation against basic rights in Egypt.
In Alexandria, some 3000 women, members in the Muslim Brothers group gathered demanding the introduction of more democratic reforms in Egypt. The demonstrating women chanted slogans in support of reforms and the abrogation of the state of emergency applied in the country since more than 20 years.
On the other hand, the opposition Egyptian al-Ghad party withdrew from a dialogue it has with the ruling Democratic National Party on reforms. Other parties said they are not pleased with the results of the dialogue and might stop attending it.
