58 persons killed in suicide attack south of Baghdad

Iraqi medical sources said that at least 58 persons were killed and other 45 injured when one suicidor detonated a booby trapped car in the "grocery" market in the downtown of al-Sweira city to the south of Baghdad.
The Iraqi police explained that the market was crowded when one the explosion took place and the explosion inflicted heavy material losses in several sedan cars and trade shops.
A second explosion took place in Tikrit city to the north of Baghdad by a booby trapped car and this resulted in killing 8 persons of police members and injuring other four who were on the board of a small bus.
Four members of the special forces in the Iraqi ministry of the interior (al-Maghawir) were killed and others injured in an attack by a booby trapped car against their vehicle in al-Musil city.
Unidentified gunmen assassinated the civil defense commander in al-Mahmoudeyah Col. Mirza Hamzeh and his brother in an attack on the highway between the city and Baghdad.
In another development, the Iraqi police said it found the bodies of 14 persons executed by bullets in Kesra area to the north east of Baghdad. The bodies were hand-tightened and each was hit by one bullet in the head.
News reports also confirmed that five persons from supporters of the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader were injured in clashes with the Iraqi police following Friday's prayers in al-Koufa mosque to the south of Baghdad.
News reports said the demonstrations started following the prayers demanding the release of all detainees of the supporters of al-Mahdi army and al-Sader trend.
On the other hand, the governor of alo-Najaf, Hassan Attan, said that only two of the demonstrators were injured, noting that the police opened fire in the air to disperse the demonstrators who started their demonstrations, unlicensed.
Mosques Imams in Iraq on Friday called in the Iraqi government led by Ibrahim al-Jaafari to work for meeting the demands of the Iraqi people and ending their sufferings and preventing sectarianism.
