An open crisis in Jordan between Badran government and parliament
Jordan, Politics, 5/5/2005
Jordan has been witnessing an open crisis between the government of Adnan Badran and the parliament on the background of the rejection of the parliamentary majority to give confidence to the new government because there are many ministers in this government who "have no credibility."
The first deputy for the Jordanian prime minister Mamdouh al-Abadi said on Wednesday that the majority of the parliamentarians who represent the conservative trend, who often gave their confidence to successive governments, are determined to vote non confidence on the government of Badran over what they considered the lack of credibility among members of its economic team.
This team is led by the controversial minister of finance Basem Awadallah who submitted his resignation as a minister of planning from the former government to return back very strong to the government of Badran only two months after he had quit his post.
The parliamentarians strongly demanded the prime minister on Tuesday in a meeting at the parliament to remove Awadallah and other ministers close to him in the ministerial team as a basic precondition to give confidence noting that the government has no connection to the people, nor the society neither the poor."
