Two relief employees killed in Sudan
Sudan, Politics, 5/5/2005
Khartoum has held responsible Darfur's rebels for the killing of two Sudanese members of the relief employees and kidnapping of a third in an attack against a team for the Sudanese Red Crescent in Kasla to the east of Sudan.
The Humanitarian Affairs Ministry accused the Sudan's Liberation Front, one of the rebel movements in Darfur, and armed elements in al-Rasheydah tribe of launching the attack near Eritrea borders on Sunday.
However, a spokesman for the rebels denied that, saying that Sudan's liberation has no forces in the east part of the country or on the Eritrean part of the borders.
Adam Ali Shaqar said that his movement is only in Darfur to the west, rather in Kasla in the east, stressing that it does not fight non-governmental organizations rather cooperates with it.
Khartoum stresses that Darfur rebels have bases in Asmara and training camps near the eastern borders between Sudan and Eritrea.
These came amid reciprocated accusations between Khartoum and the rebels over the responsibility to attacking relief workers. The government stressed commitment to cease fire and improving the security situation in Darfur in order to facilitate the access of the relief teams to the evacuees camps.
