Ahl Tamek family denounces the schemes of renegade Ali Salem Tamek, communique
Morocco, Politics, 5/4/2005

The Ahl Tamek family members denounced "the schemes of a member belonging to (their) family, namely Ali Salem Tamek," whom they exclude "from family, tribe and national unity" and regard as "a renegade" for flouting their dignity and damaging "the sacrifices made by our valorous Ait Oussa Tribe to preserve the unity and territorial integrity of the Kingdom."

In a communique sent Tuesday to the Moroccan News Agency MAP, the Ahl Tamek family said it "had suffered the dealings of Ali Salem Tamek, believing it was an error of youth, but how big its surprise and its disappointment were when through a statement last week to the Spanish daily 'El Pais', he once again clearly showed he belonged to the clan of the enemies of Morocco and of its territorial integrity.."

The communique said "through this act, he proved his treason to his homeland, tribe and family, showing contempt to the sacrifices and martyrdom of hundreds of members of his tribe, made to preserve the territorial integrity of the Kingdom."

It added that by this attitude, Ali Salem Tamek "ignored the exaction campaign perpetrated by the enemies of the civil populations of his Ait Oussa tribe in Labouirat, Zag and Assa; populations who suffered torture, forced disappearances and outrage to dignity in addition to assassination and other atrocities."

The communique considers that Ali Salem Tamek "betrayed the principles and noble ideals of the Tamek family for the sake of which the family fought, leaving martyrs in its ranks, namely the martyr soldiers, Zeidan Tamek and Tayeb Tamek, who sacrificed their life fighting for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom," adding "his own father, Royal Armed Forces captain, Mohamed Salem Tamek, was wounded several times in the honour field fighting the enemy.

The same source recalled that "the very patriotic principles and ideals were defended at the time of colonisation by the Tamek family, headed by the brave patriarch Aidda Tamek, then leader of the former national liberation army during the fifties and who is currently Royal Armed Forces Colonel serving in the Sahara."

"Taking into account the despicable lies spread by Ali Salem Tamek, who is in breach with the principles his family and tribe militate for within the homeland," the members of the Ahl Tamek family, announce their "total and firm denunciation of the disgraceful manoeuvres of Ali Salem Tamek, whom they regard, "from now on, to be excluded from family, tribe and national unity" and see "as a renegade."
