Walid Junblat and disarmament of Hizbullah party
Lebanon, Politics, 5/4/2005

The chairman of the Lebanese Socialist Progressive party Walid Junblat said that the solution of the question of the Hizbullah weapons can be only through dialogue among various Lebanese sides.

In a position showing his different position with the other opposition forces, the Druz leader said after his visit to the Maronite patriarch Nasrullah Sfeir that "this is the only solution, the one who has another solution let him propose it." Certain Lebanese opposition forces especially the Christian one, in particular supported the demand set by the UN Security Council resolution 1559 to dismantle the weapons of the Lebanese militias, which it meant in specific the weapons of the Hizbullah party.

In a separate position, Junblat called on his supporters to demonstrate in order to release the leader of the dissolved Lebanese forces Samir Jaajaa who spent 11 years in prison.
