Egyptian-Saudi summit in Sharm el-Sheikh on Thursday
Saudi Arabia-Egypt, Politics, 5/3/2005

Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdel Aziz, the Saudi Crown Prince and the Chief of the Saudi National Guard will pay a flight visit to Egypt on Thursday in the context of his current foreign tour.

Sources in Riyadh said the Saudi Crown Prince would hold a summit meeting with President Mubarak in Sharm el-Sheikh for reviewing the latest developments in the Arab arena with the main emphasis on the situation in Palestinian territories, Iraq, and Lebanon. The two leaders will review the progress of efforts for achieving peace in the region in the light of the resolutions of the recent Arab summit and ways of pushing forward these efforts through the role played by both Egypt and Saudi Arabia in this field.

The sources said the Saudi Crown Prince would brief President Mubarak on the outcome of his recent talks with US President Bush on the Palestinian and Iraqi affairs.

The Saudi and US sides had stressed the importance of achieving a fair settlement through negotiations for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on two democratic Israeli and Palestinian States living side by side in peace and security.

They also called for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and parts of the West Bank as an important step towards applying the roadmap.

Talks between the Egyptian and Saudi sides would focus on ways of enhancing relations in the different fields and coordinating efforts for confronting terrorism.

The Saudi Crown Prince would renew his country's denunciation of the latest terrorist incidents in Egypt.

The Saudi Crown Prince is currently visiting Morocco and would tomorrow visit Algiers.
