23 Iraqis killed in Monday's confrontations

Some 23 Iraqis were killed and others were injured in attacks in nine booby trapped cars, four of which were in the capital Baghdad on Monday with one of them targeting a senior official at the Iraqi ministry of the interior. However, he survived the attack.

Two booby trapped car went off on Monday morning in Baghdad. News reports said that one of the two cars targeted Lt. Gen. Rasheed Faleih, one of the leaders of the special forces in the Iraqi forces, of the ministry of the interior. The explosion which took place in al-Hurriah quarters to the north of the capital resulted in no casualties but injured the official and three of his personal guards.

The second explosion took place in a crowded market in al-Karradah quarters to the north west of Baghdad, and this resulted in killing four persons at least and injuring other 8 and inflecting material damage.

One British soldier was killed in Basra, according to the British defense office. In al-Khales city in Deyali governorate to the north of Baghdad, one policeman working for the Iraqi federal police was killed by gunmen bullets who were riding a car.

An attack by a booby trapped car to the west of Musil on Saturday evening resulted in killing 25 persons and more than 50 injured, according to the American army. The attack targeted the eulogy gathering for a leading figure of the Kurdistani Democratic party who was assassinated in the same day.

At least ten persons were killed earlier in two separate attacks in Baghdad, while other three were killed in Falluja.
