US, UN welcome Syria's pullout from Lebanon

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice depicted on Thursday the Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon as a "positive step." Rice said in statements during her late tour in Latin America and published in Washington Yesterday, the step taken by Syria has come to match with UN Security Council resolution 1559, noting to the importance of Syrian forces complete withdrawal from Lebanon.
Meanwhile, The United Nations welcomed the Syrian forces pullout from Lebanon and the implementation of the article related to this in the UN resolution 1559. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said in a statement in New Delhi, the UN has not made a criticism to Syria in this respect, but rather the "UN applauded the Syrian move."
