Turabi under home arrest after prison

The son of the Islamic opposition Hassan al-Turabi said that his father was taken from prison to home arrest in a house for the security forces in Khartoum.
Saddiq al-Turabi explained that his father was transported into a security home in Kafouri quarters which belongs to the state security, noting that his father is now under home arrest and that his mother Wesal al-Mahdi is the only person permitted to see him.
Government officials say that Turabi, who remained held since the end of March 2004 according to the emergency law, will be released, most expectedly after the abrogation of these laws, expected to be made after approving a new constitution.
Special talks on drawing the new constitution draft are expected today, Saturday, and are expected to last for 6 weeks.
Turabi was jailed since more than one year after the Sudanese People's Congress Party which he leads was accused of making a coupe on his former alley the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.
