Moroccan medical team separates Siamese
Morocco, Health, 4/29/2005
A Moroccan medical team successfully separated two Siamese newborns during a four hour-long surgery at a hospital in El Jadida (100 km south of Casablanca).
The babies who were joined at the belly were transferred to the city's hospital soon after their birth in the neighbouring village of Sidi Bennour.
The first examination showed that one of the two newborns suffered a congenital malformation, but the two did not share any vital organ.
The operation was successful and the doctors who corrected the congenital malformation say the baby is sound and was fed less than 24 hours after the operation.
