Egyptian officials hail Syria's active role

Syria is pursuing a wise and brave policy in dealing with the recent developments that the region is witnessing, Egyptian President political advisor said Thursday.

Receiving Director General of the Syrian Arab News Agency SANA Adnan Mahmoud, Osama al-Baz stressed the significance of Syria's active role on the regional and international levels. "Syria is an important factor in the pan-Arab equation." He said pointing out that the campaign that Syria is exposed to is a mere words campaign.

"Means of intimidation and pressure will be useless to affect Syria's national role and credibility," al-Baz added.

He clarified that Syria is moving through deliberated reform steps that take into consideration the Syrian people interests in a way that enhances security, stability and national unity.

Al-Baz also asserted the importance of boosting cooperation between Syria and Egypt on economic, cultural and media levels describing this cooperation as "very good." Mahmoud also met with Speaker of Egyptian Shura Council Safwat al-Sharif.

Al-Sharif voiced Egypt's absolute support to Syria's stances towards regional and international developments hailing the deep-rooted fraternal bilateral relations.
