Escalation of attacks in Iraq

Iraq has witnessed an escalation in the pace of attacks which resulted in several casualties among killed or injured in the lines of the American forces and the Iraqi security forces.
News reports quoted medical sources in Falluja hospital that two Iraqis were killed and two others injured when American soldiers opened fire at a rental car stopped off the building they are stationed. In al-Maseib to the south of Baghdad, four Iraqis were killed and other 20 injured when one Katyusha missile went off in a passengers station in the downtown of the city.
Several American soldiers were injured, two members of the Iraqi national guards were killed and other 7 injured when one man detonated his car in a joint vehicle for the American and Iraqi forces at the headquarters of the police leadership in the downtown of Tikrit to the north of Baghdad.
In Sameraa, one booby trapped bike exploded targeting a police vehicle and this resulted in killing two police men and injuring five of them. Gunmen also assassinated the deputy minister of the Interior for criminal intelligence affairs Lt. gen. Mohsin Abdul Sada in al-Doura area to the south of Baghdad. Gunmen to the east of Baghdad killed Maj. Ala' Kazem the officer in al-Rasafah passport directorate.
On the other hand, the American forces released the prince of the Islamic group in Iraq, Ali Babir, after two years in detention. The American forces had accused Babir of being behind certain attacks against them in Iraq.
