Arab Sunni quit the Iraqi government
Iraq, Politics, 4/29/2005
The front of the Arab Sunni forces which includes the front of the national forces and the national dialogue council announced its withdrawal from the formation of the Iraqi government.
The spokesman for the national dialogue council Saleh al-Mutlaq said in a press conference that the Arab Sunni are no longer involved in the declared government, and that they had notified al-Jaafari of pulling out their candidates from the ministerial posts because the government's announcement came in contrary to the agreement made with al-Jaafari.
Because of these developments, the Iraqi Vice President Ghazi Elyawer called for quick completion of the formation of the new Iraqi government and to appoint two Arab Sunni ministers in the ministries of defense and human rights who remained unoccupied in the new formation. Elyawer expressed his hope that this will be made within the two coming days.
Elyawer said that the representation of the Arab Sunni in the government is beyond the needed level. He defended the Sunni ministers in the new government and described them as known and accepted figures and that they have come from inside the Arab Sunni and from the outside.
Meantime, member of the Iraqi national society for the reconciliation and liberation bloc, Mashaan al-Jabbouri, described the day of announcing the new Iraqi government as a sad day in which the hands of the Arab Sunni was broken and an alienation policy was practiced against them.
