Lebanon, Politics, 4/29/2005

The Lebanese government decided on Thursday evening to remove three heads of security departments in addition to the court of appeal attorney general which the opposition demanded their resignation since the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri on February 14.

The Lebanese minister of information Charlez Rizq said that the government which got the confidence of the parliament in its meeting on Thursday should appoint Saeed Mirza and general supervisor, Ashraf Reifi as an official for the internal police and George Khouri in the post of the director general for the military intelligence.

However, the Lebanese government postponed appointing a successor for Jamil al-Sayyed who resigned recently from the post of the director general of the Lebanese security one day before Syria's announcement of completing the withdrawal of its forces from Lebanon.
