Saudi Arabia accuses gunmen and terrorists of being drug addicts
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 4/28/2005
The Saudi minister of the interior prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz said that many of the terrorists "who were killed or detained at the hands of the Saudi forces recently have relations to drugs."
He added in statements to the press "it was proved to us during investigations that they are drug addicts."
The Saudi daily Okaz published a report on Wednesday in which it stressed that seven gunmen who were killed while chased by the Saudi forces by the beginning of April were, according to terrorist accusations, drug addicts. The paper which is close to the minister of the interior quoted a Jordanian doctor as saying that many of those "terrorists went earlier to Jordan to receive treatment as a result of being morphine and Cocaine addicts."
The Saudi authorities intensified attacks on sides suspected to be members of al-Qaida organization and the armed groups since it was exposed to bloody attacks in 1993.
Since then, the Saudi authorities were able to kill or detain some 23 persons out of 26 included in the list set by the Saudi government.
