Algeria-Morocco, Economics, 4/26/2005
The Moroccan Federation of the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Services and its Algerian peer signed, in Algiers Sunday, an agreement to create a joint Moroccan-Algerian Chamber of Commerce.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the 2nd Forum of Morocco-Algerian businessmen, which gathered businessmen from the two neighboring countries, representing different professional groupings (chambers of commerce, employers, exportersÉ).
According to the chairman of the Algerian Federation of the Chambers of Commerce, Ali Habour, the new body is meant to structure and organize economic cooperation relations between the two countries.
As to the chairman of the Moroccan Federation, Abdelhakim Kemmou, the aim behind the creation of this body is to "consolidate, organize and supervise bilateral economic and trade relations, gather operators of the two countries around joint interests, exchange information, provide advice, promote products, and finally, settle possible disputes."
The 1st forum of Morocco-Algerian businessmen, which took place in Casablanca this past February, gave the opportunity to businessmen of the two countries to examine the important exchange and partnership opportunities that have to be taken advantage of in the two countries in order to keep up with the changes of the region.
