Moroccan cinema holds place of honour in Montreal

The Moroccan cinema has won several awards at the 21st edition of Montreal's "Days of African and Creole cinema," held on April 14-24 in Canada.

The best long feature-length movie award went to the Moroccan movie "L'Enfant Endormi" (The Sleeping Child) directed by Moroccan Moroccan Yasmine Kassari.

"La chambre noire" (The Dark Room) of Hassan Benjelloun, "Tenja" of Hassan Lagzouli and "Happy Hour" of Abdeslam Kalai were also recompensed in short feature-length movies.

In the documentary section, the festival screened also the Moroccan "Dieu est dans la Ville" (God is Here) of Aziz El Jahidy.

Under the theme of "Sights from Africa," the festival screened a hundred of movies from 24 African countries.

Morocco will be the Guest of Honour of the 22nd edition of festival that will take place April 22-30, 2006.
