Washington support for Saudi security plans
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 4/26/2005
Observers indicated the Saudi need for Washington's security and political support in light of its intensive campaign it launches against what is called terrorism inside the country and chasing groups behind the series of explosions in several Saudi cities.
Riyadh says that its campaign to chase the gunmen who are suspected to be members in al-Qaida organization resulted so far in killing 90 wanted.
This is however, the second time in which the American president receives the Saudi crown prince in his farm in Texas, after the meeting which brought them together in June 2003 after the September 11 attacks worsened relations.
The meeting was held amid a call addressed by Human Rights Watch organization for the American administration to pressure Riyadh to release three opposition members they were presumed to be tried on Monday and the trial was adjourned until unlimited time. The American administration did not comment on the call of the organization.
The meeting was held while oil prices continue increasing amid the markets suspicion on that OPEC will decide to increase in its production in May after the price of one barrel of oil increased 15 cents on Monday on the opening of New York market to reach $ 55.55 for one barrel.
Prior to the arrival of the Saudi crown prince in Texas, the American president said that Saudi Arabia wants to pump more oil in the markets in order that prices will reach an acceptable level. He explained that the unprecedented increase in prices "will destroy the markets." He added that fuel prices increase because of the oil price increase and the huge economic growth in India and China.
