Persons wounded in fire opening in Sanaa following bomb attack
Yemen, Local, 4/26/2005
Several persons were injured when one man threw a bomb on a car belonging to the Yemeni ministry of defense in the downtown of the capital.
The attack took place in a main street near the headquarters of the costumes department in Sanaa. The security reacted by opening fire and this resulted in injuring the attacker who was admitted to the hospital.
A statement for the Yemeni ministry of the interior said that several persons who were at the site were hit slightly and admitted to the hospital.
In its statement, the ministry did not say if the bomb inflected damage on the military car or not. The statement confined to saying that the security forces seized with the attacker three bombs, one pistol and some documents but gave no mention to his identity nor the motives behind the attack.
This comes two weeks after violent clashes that took place between the security forces and supporters of Bader Eddine al-Houthi in Saadah governorate in the north west of Yemen and this resulted in killing or injuring scores from the two sides. Al-Houthi had led a movement against the government ended in his killing and fleeing of his followers.
