New Syrian embassy in Ukraine

Syrian Assistant Foreign Minister Kamal Taha underlined the deeply rooted Syrian-Ukrainian relations, asserting that foreign pressures won't affect those direct ties between the two governments.
During a ceremony opening the Syrian Embassy in the Ukrainian Capital, Kiev Monday, Taha underscored Syria's care for developing relations between the two countries in all domains. Ukraine is an important economic partner for Syria. Trade exchanges between the two countries amounted to USD 600 million in 2004. Syria imports iron, wood, pesticides and vehicles from Ukraine, while it exports cotton, cloth and fruit to Ukraine.
