Acts of killing, detention in Iraq

The American army said it had detained four suspects concerning the downing of one civilian helicopter in Iraq last week, thereby the number of detainees seized over this operation increased to ten.

This came after the killing of scores of Iraqis during the past 24 hours in various parts of Iraq.

In al-Shu'la quarters, some 16 Iraqis were killed on Sunday evening and other 50 others were injured in a bomb explosion and a booby trapped car in a mosque for the Shiite in this quarters situated to the north of Baghdad.

Also in Baghdad, security sources said that three Iraqis were killed in different operations to the north of Baghdad since Sunday evening.

The Iraqi ministry of the interior said that one person was killed and other three injured by fire exchange and the explosion of a bomb in al-Doura and al-Zafarenyah area to the south of Baghdad. Four persons were killed and a fifth was injured while implanting an explosive to the south of Baghdad.

In another development, one Iraqi oil source said on Monday that a fire resulted from a "destructive act" erupted on Sunday evening in the complex of oil pipeline in Bay Hassan oil fields, which are 90 Km to the northern west of Karkouk.
