Kuwait to exchange diplomats with Iraq
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 4/23/2005
The Kuwaiti foreign minister Muhammad al-Sabah announced on Friday that Kuwait has taken necessary measures to exchange diplomats with Iraq, noting that the Kuwaiti embassy will be opened following the completion of the Iraqi government formation.
Al-Sabah stressed in a statement that the "decision of maintaining diplomatic exchange with Baghdad was taken and ambassadors will be nominated for that. We expect the elected Iraqi government to nominate an ambassador for it in Kuwait."
He expressed his optimism of a closer cooperation with the new Iraqi leadership to be built on closer cooperation with the new Iraqi leadership "on the ground of solid foundations between the two sisterly countries."
