37 Copts visited Jerusalem despite ban by Pope Shanoudah
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 4/23/2005

Some 37 Egyptian Copts traveled from Cairo to occupied Jerusalem despite the embargo imposed by the Pope of Alexandria and al-Karazza Patriarchy Shanouda III against visiting the city as long as it is under occupation.

Officials explained that a first group of 37 visitors left Cairo after getting the consent of security sides, adding that another group will join them in the next few days on the occasion of the Orthodox Easter.

These visits came despite the decision taken by Pope Shanouda, a big defender for the Palestinian issue, to ban the travel of occupied Palestine before settling the Arab- Israeli conflict.
