French geo-politician: pressures are to change Syria pro-peace stance
Syria-France, Politics, 4/23/2005

Pressures and threats against Syria aim at changing her opposing-war stance which calls for the just and comprehensive peace according to the international resolutions, Chairman of the French Seminar for Middle East Geopolitics Gille Munier said Thursday.

"We will hold press conferences with French and foreign media in France and we will make political communications to clarify Syria's attitude as well as her strategic role in the region," Munier, who is the head of a French delegation visiting Syria, told SANA.

The chairman called upon all Syrian writers and intellectuals to write articles in French press as well as on web-sites to explain their country's stances saying "Media is a main and important factor that affects the public opinion."

Munier noted that "war today is a media war" so the Arabs should reactivate their media in order to face pressures and threats against them.

He underlined Syria's "wise" stances towards different issues, pointing out that President al-Assad's efforts in reform and development will make a great progress in Syria.

Munier demanded the United Nation not to deal by a double-standard criteria with the Mideast issues noting "the international organization should not be exploited to interfere in countries' internal affairs."

"The only beneficiary from the assassination of Lebanese ex-premier Rafiq al-Hariri is Israel," Munier stressed. The French delegation includes many French law and political figures.
