Attacks increase in Iraq
Iraq, Military, 4/23/2005

The American army announced on Friday that one American soldier was killed and another injured in a bomb explosion targeting an American vehicle while running in TelAfar town near al-Musil to the north of Iraq on Thursday.

The American army announced in a statement that two of the marines were killed in a bomb explosion in al-Ramadi to the west of Baghdad. The statement explained that the attack took place on Wednesday.

Despite the security deterioration in Iraq, the US denied the occurrence of security collapse in Iraq. The spokesman for the US Department Of State, Adam Early, said that the style of attacks has changed "but I do not say there is a collapse in security." He added there are more Iraqis who are trained on ensuring security and challenging the rebellion."

Early was repeating what was stated by the US President George W. Bush that security in Iraq has entered a new phase and that the number of the American security forces which were trained and armed exceeded for the first time the number of the American forces there. The US defense department considers that the ability of the American army to withstand the armed attacks is continuously improving.
