US warns citizens from traveling to Lebanon
Lebanon-USA, Politics, 4/23/2005
Concerning the security situation in Lebanon, the US Department Of State has warned the Americans from traveling to Lebanon unless there is an urgent need to that.
The department explained that the employees of the American government and their families need the consent of the US Department Of State if they want to carry out unofficial trips to Lebanon. It urged the Americans in general not to head in particular to the southern suburbs of Beirut and areas of the Bekaa plain and south Lebanon and the two cities of Sidon and Tripoli under the pretext that Hizbullah enjoys a strong presence in these areas.
Members of the Hizbullah party organized a protest on Thursday outside the American embassy in Beirut demanding it not to interfere in the Lebanese affairs. They expressed their rejection of UN resolution 1559 which in some of its items demand the disarmament of weapons from all Lebanese militias.
