Tennis Grand Prix La Princesse Lalla Meryem to kick off in rabat

The 5th edition of the international Grand Prix La Princesse Lalla Meryem of tennis will kick off, here april 30.

ATP N0 41st, Chinese Lia NA, American Raymond Lisa (47th), Italian Camerin Maria Elena (57th) and the title holder, French Emilie Loit along with Moroccan wild card holders, Habiba Ifrakh and Bahia Mouhtassine are the big guns of this event.

Chaired by Princess Lalla Meryem (younger sister of King Mohammed VI), the competition will feature 60 tennis women representing 26 countries from April 30 through May 8.

President of Moroccan Tennis Federation, Mohamed M'jid said that Rabat has been chosen to host this event part of the federation strategy to decentralise its activities insisting that Riad Club is the good place for a such event.

The US$ 140,000 event was won by Hungarian, Zsofia Gubacsi (2001), Austrian Patricia Wartusch (2002), Italian Rita Grand (2003) and French Emilie Loit (2004).
