Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 4/21/2005

The specialized authorities in Kuwait confiscated the 7th issue of Ara' ( views ) magazine, which is issued by the Gulf center for research in Dubai, and banned its circulation. Reasons behind the ban were not disclosed.

Chairman of the Gulf center for research in Dubai, Abdul Aziz Bin Othman Bin Saqr, expected the reason behind the ban to that "the magazine issued an article for Sari Rashid al-Yassin, the chairman of the International Studies Center in Baghdad University, about "Iraqi- Kuwaiti relations," in which he accused Kuwait of conducting aggressive policies against Iraq during and after the recent war.

According to Bin Saqr, the magazine's publication of an opinion poll carried out by the center in Baghdad in March showing that 32% of the Iraqis consider that Kuwait is the country most damaging for Iraq among the neighboring state, to be one of the reasons that pushed the Kuwaiti authorities to confiscate the last issue of the magazine.

The chairman of the Gulf center for research explained that the article by Dari is originally a summary he had presented in a seminar on "Iraq and the neighboring states .. exchanged views," held by the center by the end of March.
