Saad Eddine Hariri to succeed his father in the political scene in Lebanon
Lebanon, Politics, 4/21/2005
The family of the late Lebanese former prime minister Rafic Hariri who was assassinated on February 14 decided his second eldest son Saad Eddin al-Hariri to continue in his father's political footsteps.
A statement issued by the family said that it is time to announce the continued march of martyr Hariri, and "complete his project for Lebanon's Arab identity, independence, freedom and democratic system," vowing to "follow the steps followed by Hariri and not to mix political and humanitarian calculation with any sectarian or regional considerations."
The family decided that Nazik Hariri, the widow of Rafic Hariri, to continue running all charity and social establishments that belong to him and to supervise them. The family addressed the killers of Hariri as saying "Lebanon will not die by the crime that targeted it," stressing that the Lebanese faced "the crime" by an unprecedented national unity.
Saad Eddine used to run his father's financial affairs and his giant company "O. J" whose headquarters is in Saudi Arabia. He, several days ago, launched a company for real estate promotion of which he personally owns 85%.
