Allawi survives assassination attempt in Baghdad

The Iraqi interim prime minister whose term of office has expired, Eyad Allawi, survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday evening when one suicide attacker in a booby trapped car attacked his procession near his house in al-Mansour quarters in Baghdad, and this resulted in killing two Iraqi police men and injuring a third.

The spokesman for the government whose term of office expired said that Allawi was preparing for attending an important meeting about the formation of the new government, and then he went to his house near the headquarters of the national reconciliation conference which he leads, when the suicidor carried out the attack.

Various parts of Iraq witnessed in the last hours several attacks that resulted in several being killed and wounded.
