Syria has chosen peace as a strategy

Syria chose peace as a strategic choice and has been working to realize it, the matter which guarantees security and stability in the region and restores rights to their legal owners according to the international resolutions, head of the Higher Education office and Research Ghiath Barakat said Wednesday.

Barakat, who is the chairman of the Syrian-Russian friendly society, underlined during a meeting with Russian parliament and media delegation the deep-rooted ties between Syrian and Russian peoples noting that these relations were crowned by many important economic joint establishments. He pointed out at Russia's active role in realizing international peace and security as well as its supporting stances to Arab issues.

Head of the Russian delegation Shamel Sultanov who is the coordinator of the Russian parliament group of Russia and the Islamic world stressed the importance of the Syrian-Russian ties and developing them in a way that serves the two friendly peoples.

The delegation pointed out at the "important and fruitful" visit by President Bashar al-Assad to Russia, expressing total solidarity with the Syrian people against all foreign pressure the country is exposed.
