Iran supports new Lebanese government
Lebanon-Iran, Politics, 4/21/2005

Iran on Wednesday voiced support to the Lebanese new government headed by Premier Najib Miqati.

"Iran expresses content over forming the new government and we are willing to offer all capabilities to back Lebanon and push bilateral relations forward," Iranian Ambassador in Beirut said following a meeting with Miqati.

He added that viewpoints with Lebanese Prime Minister were identical on the pivotal and central role the resistance has played in Lebanon through liberating the majority of occupied Lebanese lands.

Meanwhile, Lebanese parties and national organizations in north Lebanon said that Syrian steadfastness and Lebanese resistance will remain "in facing the US-Zionist plots," stressing that Syria and Lebanon will not be affected by threats and pressures.

"Forming the Lebanese new government during the ongoing situation and threats is a positive step," the parties said in a statement following a meeting in the city of Tripoli.
