Sunni Waqf chairman, Shiite tribal leader killed in Iraq

In al-Amara to the south of Iraq, a source in the Iraqi police said that the chairman of the Sunni Waqf department in the city, Latif Muhammad al-Ani, was killed on Wednesday by veiled gunmen who were in a car near his house.

In al-Basra, the Shiite tribal leader Abdul Al al-Battat, member in the interim board of Basra, was killed by the bullets of unidentified persons wearing military uniform who broke into his farm in al-Zubeir area to the east of the city.

In another development, al-Jihad organization in Mesopotamia announced in a statement on the Internet responsibility for the killing of the advisor for the minister of defense Lt. Gen. Adnan al-Qara Jouli on Monday.

On the other hand, scores of the students of the jurisprudence sciences faculty demonstrated in front of the Iranian embassy in Baghdad, and called for the departure of members of the Iranian intelligence from Iraq.
