Foreign visitors admire Syria's ruins and culture
Syria, Local, 4/20/2005
French Professor at Paris and Toulouse universities Deis Brigitte on Tuesday said that Syrian people possess diverse cultures and they give special care to their ancient civilization.
The professor, visiting the Syrian ancient city of Palmyra along with several French tourist firms, expressed appreciation of the tourist sites in Syria.
She hailed Syrian people as civilized and generous, saying that Syrians have turned stones and desert into fertile farms.
Dr. Dominique Longuier, for her part, expressed pleasure over secure and quiet atmospheres in Syria. She added that the western media conveys news on Syria in an incorrect way.
Meanwhile, Syrian-Polish joint expedition launched activities in Palmyra on Tuesday for this season. "The Expedition will resume works at the Temple of Lat in addition to completing necessary technical studies to put on display again the rare mosaic picture the expedition has recently discovered," Director of Palmyra Ruins said.
He added that the expedition will also work to rebuild stones of the historical Statue of the Lat lion to be shown for visitors.
