Foreign Media Department statement on American al-Hurra
Syria-USA, Politics, 4/20/2005

Syria's Director of Foreign Media Department at the Ministry of Information Nezar Mayhoob said Tuesday the ministry has offered all available possibilities to al-Hurra TV channel to broadcast its live program "Free Hour" from Syria.

"The first episode of the program on Syria has reflected freedom and openness atmospheres during which the media men and intellectuals have expressed their opinions of the Syrian medial freely," Mayhoob, told SANA.

The Director statement came in an answer to a question on what has al-Hurra channel aired today, that it had decided to stop broadcasting its program from Syria under the pretext that it came under pressure in selecting its guests.

He added that a number of the guests who are supposed to be participating in the remaining three episodes are temporally abroad Syria, and that leads to the fact that the channel had not made preparations with the supposed participants.
