Positive, reserved reactions of the Lebanese opposition towards Miqati government

The reaction of the Lebanese opposition towards the formation of the new government led by Najib Miqati ranged between positive and reserved, especially towards the foreign minister Mahmoud Hammoud and the defense minister Elias al-Murr.

Parliamentarian Ghenwa Jalloul of the bloc of the late prime minister Rafic Hariri stressed the determination of the opposition to deal positively, despite that there are names which she described as "provocative," in remarks to Hammoud who is accused by the opposition of seeking to obstruct the work of the international investigation committee in the Hariri assassination.

For his part, the opposition Druz leader Walid Junblat expressed his regret over the "minor" share for the opposition in the new government. He expressed his fear of delaying the elections set for May and the removal of the leaders of the security departments.

Meantime, the leader of the opposition free trend, Lt. Gen. Michael Aoun, expressed reservations on the formation of the government. He preferred to leave comments on this issue for Lebanese opposition living in Lebanon.

In an attempt to ease down the fears of the opposition and its reservations, the foreign minister in the new Lebanese government on Tuesday stressed after announcing the new government his commitment to facilitating the work of the international investigation committee to the assassination of Hariri so as to perform its mission fully and comprehensively.
