Miqati's consultations to form a Lebanese government

The designated Lebanese prime minister Najib Miqati started official consultations to form a new government by meeting with three former Lebanese prime ministers.

In this regard, Miqati visited Amin al-Hafez in his house in Beirut and then Rasheed al-Solh and Salim al-Hoss. Miqati will be also meeting with former designated prime minister Omar Karami.

Immediately after his designation by President Emil Lahoud to form the government, Miqati defined his priorities to "organize the parliamentary elections, cope with the international investigation to the assassination of the former prime minister Rafic Hariri and follow up the economic situation in Lebanon."

Miqati, who is known for his strong relations with Syria said he will lead a moderate government and will abide by the Taif accord, considering that the chance is strengthen establishments and deepen national unity.
