Convergence between Lebanese government supporters and opposition
Lebanon, Politics, 4/18/2005
Designated Lebanese prime minister Najib Miqati continued his consultations to form a new Lebanese government after a decrease in the pace of difference among the alienated parties with the consent of main supporters on a mini government and the resignation of the security forces heads.
In this regard, parliamentarian Ali Hassan al-Khalil of al-Tahrir, from the liberation bloc ( supporters), considered that the crisis has been solved after the opposition named the designated prime minister.
For her part, parliamentarian Ghenwa Jalloul of "Beirut decision" bloc which was led by the former Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri considered that the "supporters" started to facilitate the formation of the government, considering that this is a positive matter which facilitates Miqati's mission.
The obliogatory parliamentary consultations which was held on Friday by the Lebanese president resulted in designating Miqati, who is close to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
On the other hand and for the first time, a team of supporters adopted the request of removing the heads of security forces after Damascus allies used to refuse this demand which was submitted by the opposition, on the ground that the opposition holds the head of the security departments are indirectly responsible for the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Hariri on February 14.
